Happy Birthday Trees!

Dear Parents,

Since returning from winter break, our friends are getting more familiar with our alef beis and abc charts.
Every morning at the circle time our friends take turns to help Morah sing and point on each letter of alef beis and abc letters on the chart.

Then our friends have to go and find the first letter of their Hebrew name.

This week we added the first Hebrew latter on their chairs in the classroom. At the snack and lunch time our friends having fun finding their own letter before they sit down.

Tu B'Shvat

This week we are continuing to explore more about holiday Tu B'Shvat: the birthday of trees.
We have been saying, "Happy birthday, trees!" everyday.

Peach Room Tree

Our class has been working on an ongoing, group project. We are creating our own Peach Room Family Tree. Every day we add some more to our tree as we talk about the different parts of the tree: roots, trunk, bark, branches, and leaves. We have explored different textures and mediums in this collage work. Our friends began by painting our cardboard tree all together. Then they added some bark to the tree. We used yellow, green and red paint dots to make leaves.
Our tree looks like a peace of art. It is so creative and beautiful!

Seeds

Our friends used a magnifying glass to discover the seeds inside of some fruits and vegetables. We discovered that some fruits have many small seeds inside, and some have large seeds. Then we tasted some fruits!

Happy Tu B'Shvat and Shabbat Shalom!

Tu B’Shvat

Dear parents!

A highlight of this week was that our friends began exploring Tu B'shvat (the new year for the trees) We started our week playing in the kitchen area  which we loved! In the the kitchen area we had pretend fruits and vegetables. Our friends used their sorting skills to sort the fruits from the vegetables. We spoke about which fruits grow from the ground, and then practiced saying the Brochos!

We say the bracha Ha'adama for the fruits and vegetables that grow from the ground.
We say the bracha Pri haetz for the fruits that grow on the trees.

In the sensory table this week  we had soil, seeds, beans and pots.
We were practicing how to plant.
As we did this we talked about all of the things that plants and trees need to grow healthy- soil, water and sunlight to make their own food.

Next week we are going to plant in our own pots to see how beans or seeds grow into something big.
We will be exploring more about  Tu B’shvat.

Shabbat Shalom!

Fine Motor and Practical Life Skills

Dear Peach Room Parents,

This week we were working on fine motor skills and manipulating different objects. We had a few stations for each friend to visit if they chose to go there. Avigail  matched colors in the peg holder, Daria and Ariel used their counting practice to place pegs in the wooden number boards, Ari and Oz used their hand-eye coordination to put different sized rings on a peg, and Mika  also used her fine motor skills to place corks inside a cut pool noodle! All of these objects and activities stimulating for our friends.

Our friends are so helpful when it comes to clean up time!

This week in the sensory table we had soapy water with sponges and we practiced important life skills by rubbing and cleaning dishes.

We also swept the dust around the class room and mopped the floors.
These teach important skills for self care and sufficiency, but also allows the kids to feel empowered as well as work on their socialization and reasoning skills.

Welcome back

Dear Parents!

Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed some time off with your families! Our peaches were so happy to be back together and we started off our week with lots of very sweet hugs hello!

After being away for just couple of weeks our friends eased back into their school routine smoothly. We kept our focus on interactions and gentle reminders to help support them through this. Although we did not work on any big projects, there were many opportunities for exploration and experimentation through both fine and gross motor provocations.

Our friends love to explore the playground and outdoors on their own. They're so independent! But Morahs are always next to them, keeping an eye on them and making sure we're all safe. Our friends enjoy playing in the sandbox and feeling the rough texture of the sand, climbing on the climbing structure, riding bikes, sliding on the slide, and balancing on the beam. All these activities are great at developing our gross motor skills. These skills help our friends to run, catch a ball, climb etc. We are loving our outdoor play!
